The first international GIST Hub Workshop took place in November 2025 in Santiago at UC Chile, bringing together members of the GIST Hub from Latin America and Germany for a week of intensive exchange. The focus was on interdisciplinary discussions, joint reflections on sustainable transformations, and the establishment of long-term scientific collaborations.
In various lectures, discussions, and encounters with academic, political, and civil society actors, key challenges relating to innovation, the environment, resources, and energy transitions were examined from different perspectives. The workshop provided a space to combine theoretical approaches with practical experience and to develop new ideas for joint research projects.
The week was rounded off with insights into urban transformation processes in Santiago and informal personal exchanges. The workshop strengthened the international GIST Hub network in the long term and underlined the value of trusting partnerships for shaping sustainable futures.
